terms
These are the terms for using week-of-ai.com. They are short because the site is simple: it lists events, and other people run them.
what the site is
week-of-ai.com is a public directory of independently organized AI events in San Francisco during one week in December. It is run by a small group of volunteers and philanthropists. Anyone can browse it. Anyone can list an event, and hosts pay nothing to list. There is no registered company behind it, no sponsors and no advertising.
what the site is not
- we do not organize, host, vet or endorse any event listed here
- we do not sell tickets, take money for any event, or handle payments of any kind
- we have no commercial relationship with hosts; a listing is not a partnership
- a listing appearing here means only that a host submitted it and a volunteer checked that it looks like a real event during the week; that is not vetting, and it is not a recommendation
hosts
If you list an event, it is your event. You are responsible for:
- the event itself, its venue, and the safety of the people who come
- the accuracy of the listing: day, time, place, price, capacity and what people can expect
- any tickets, payments, refunds or money of any kind, which happen entirely between you and your guests
- following the law, including permits, licenses, accessibility and anything the venue requires
- the code of conduct at your event
We can remove any listing at any time, for any reason, without notice. We will remove listings that are misleading, unsafe, unlawful, or not actually happening during the week.
attendees
Use your judgment. Check the host, the venue and the details before you go, the way you would for any event a stranger posted online. Registering on this site tells the host you plan to come and puts the event on your week. It is not a contract with the host, with the venue or with us, and it does not guarantee entry, a seat, or that the event happens as described.
accounts
- you sign in with your email address; a link is sent to it and there is no password
- use your own name and your own email; do not impersonate anyone or pretend to represent a host, a venue or the site
- one person, one account; keep your inbox secure, because whoever has your sign-in link has your account
- we can close accounts that abuse the site, spam hosts or guests, or break the code of conduct
content
You keep the rights to everything you submit: listings, names, notes and messages. By submitting it you allow us to show it on the site and in the site's emails, for as long as the listing or the account exists and in the archive of that year's week. Keep it lawful and accurate: no content you do not have the right to post, nothing misleading, nothing that breaks the code of conduct. We can edit a listing for clarity or format and will tell you if we do.
the site, as is
The site is volunteer-run and provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. There is no company behind it. We are not liable for what happens at any event, for the accuracy of any listing, for outages or lost data, or for anything that follows from using the site. Use it at your own risk.
Where the law does not let us exclude something, it applies only to the extent the law requires.
if something goes wrong
Tell us first, through the form. Most problems are a wrong listing, a host who did not reply, or a person who behaved badly, and most of them can be fixed by a volunteer within a day. If we cannot fix it, we will say so.
changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. Using the site after a change means you accept it. If you do not, stop using the site and ask us to delete your account.
