week-of-ai.com is a public directory of independently organized AI events in San Francisco during one week in December. It is run by a small group of volunteers who live here. This page says what the site keeps about you, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.

what we collect and why

Only what the site needs to work:

• an email address, if you sign in. Sign-in is a link sent to that address; there are no passwords. We use it to keep your account and to email you about things you did on the site, such as a registration or a listing.
• a display name, if you register for an event or list one. It is the name a host sees on their guest list, or the name shown next to an event you host.
• the event details a host submits: title, day, time, venue, neighborhood, description, links, capacity and the host's contact email. Everything except the street address and the host's contact email is public once the listing is live.
• messages sent through the contact form, so we can read them and reply.

Two more things follow from using the site: the events you save to your week and register for, so the site can show them back to you; and a note you send to a host from an event page, which is relayed to that host by email with your display name.

what we do not collect

• no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, no pixels, no fingerprinting
• no third-party cookies, and no first-party cookies of our own
• no location data, no contacts, no social accounts
• no phone numbers, no payment details. The site never handles money.

Your browser keeps a little local storage so that you stay signed in, your week stays on the page, and the directory remembers your column layout. That storage never leaves your browser, and logging out clears everything except the column layout.

who can see what

• nobody sees who is attending anything. There is no public guest list and no way for one attendee to see another.
• a host sees only the display names of people who registered for that host's own event, and any note those people chose to send. A host never sees your email address unless you put it in a note.
• people registered for an event can see that event's street address and the host's contact email, so they can find the place and reach the host.
• volunteers reviewing listings see the listing, not attendee data. The database is set up so that no volunteer role can read who registered for what.
• you can see everything the site holds about you by signing in.

Nothing is sold, shared, rented or traded, ever. Not to hosts, not to sponsors (there are none), not to anyone.

where it is stored and who processes it

Your data lives with the providers the site runs on, and nowhere else:

• Vercel serves the pages. Like any web host it sees the requests your browser makes.
• Supabase holds the database and the sign-in accounts. Your sign-in address lives in its authentication system. The only other places an address is stored are a listing (the host's contact email) and a contact-form message, and a message can be written by the browser but never read back from it.
• Resend delivers the emails: sign-in links, registration updates, notes relayed to hosts, and replies to contact messages.

Each of these processes data on our instructions under their own terms. We have not added anything else to the site that receives data.

how long we keep it

• accounts: until you ask us to delete yours.
• listings: kept as the archive of that year's week, so the directory has a record of what happened.
• registrations and your week: with your account, until you cancel them or ask for the account to be deleted.
• contact messages: until they are handled, then deleted.

how to delete it

Send a message through the contact form from the email address you signed in with and ask for your data to be deleted. We will delete your account, your registrations, your week and any messages within a reasonable time and confirm by email. If you hosted an event, the public listing can stay in the archive without your account, or be removed too; say which you prefer.

children

The site is not for anyone under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we will delete it.

changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what we collect or who can see it will be announced on the site before it takes effect.
